How to Make Money With Affiliate Marketing - Bum Style

One of the first things most experienced online business owners learn, when we learned how to make money online, was how to make money with affiliate marketing. This is a great way to start because you don't need to come up with your own product or pay for and then test a sales page--it's all done for you!

The absolute cheapest way to begin affiliate marketing is what is known as "bum marketing." All you really need is the ability to write a basic article--or rewrite inexpensive private label rights material--and work with an easy content management system like Word Press.

So how to do you make money with affiliate marketing, using this low-cost to no-cost affiliate marketing strategy?

First, you need a website or at least a blog in your chosen niche. You can buy a domain name at Namecheap.com for less than $10 a year, and hosting at Hostgator.com for under $10 a month.

Make sure your domain name is keyword rich. If you can't find YourKeyPhrase.com, try separating the words with hyphens. If that doesn't work, see if you can get a .net or .org name. You can also get .info names for considerably cheaper costs per year.

Now, write about 10 pages worth of content for that site. Focus each page on a specific long-tail keyphrase within your niche.

What's a long-tail keyphrase? It's one of the ultra-specific but less searched for keyword phrases within each niche market. These phrases have less competition, yet are more highly targeted toward buyers--just what you need as a beginner. (Don't worry. You can also focus on higher-traffic keywords once your site has really been up and running. Right now, though, it's best to go for the long-tail traffic.)

At the top and bottom of each web page put an affiliate link to a niche product. You don't have to even mention the name of the product in your content--in fact, it's often best if you don't. You're not trying to sell with your content. Sales writing is a time-consuming process that you don't need to worry about. The product owners have likely paid thousands of dollars for someone to write their products' sales pages.

Instead, you want to hit on emotional hot-buttons for you keyphrases. This will help pre-sell your affiliate products (you should have at least three of them) by getting your readers revved up about their niche problems or concerns.

Now, you'll want to write and submit one or two articles a day, every day, to Ezinearticles.com. Target both your long-tail and high-traffic niche keyword phrases for these articles. This is where the bulk of your traffic will come from.

Finally, make sure you have an appropriate author bio-box at the end of each article. You'll want to tell a little about yourself (or your pseudonym) and your website. Link various boxes back to various pages on your website, using link-text that matches the targeted phrase for each page.

And that's it! Pretty soon you'll be making affiliate sales without ever spending an advertising dollar!

Useful Tips For Getting Your New Site Indexed and Ranking in the Search Engines

We offer some useful advice, tips and methods of getting your site indexed, which if you follow most or all; you should be able to see your site in the major search engines before long.

Holding Page - Once you have the idea for a new site and have the domain name, get it hosted and put a simple holding page up. The biggest problem for getting indexed is getting that first page indexed, so if you can manage to let the engines know about your site months before launch via a holding page, they will already know about you and come round to play much quicker than if launching a new domain name with no background.

Tell The Engines - Although not used as much these days, all of the engines, Google, Yahoo and Bing still have a screen where you can "submit" your site to the engine, letting them know a new kid is on the block. Simply go to the engine of your choice and look for a "Submit Site" page, where you then enter your URL, hit the submit button and wait for the robots to come crawling.

Webmaster Control Panel - All of three major search engines have a Webmaster control panel, which you can add your site to. Once you have signed up and verified your site, you can then submit a sitemap to each of the control panels, which helps to the search engine about your new site and therefore send the robots to crawl the site. The Google Webmaster control panel even lets you set the speed of crawling rate, which can help in getting a site with lots of pages crawled more quickly. You will continue to use the webmaster control panel for the rest of your site's life, so this is well worth doing straight away.

Google Analytics - If you add Google Analytics to your site, because the code is on every page of your site, then Google will know about your site in much more detail than without. We have seen sites get indexed just by adding the Google Analytics code, so not only will you get the best statistics package on the internet, you will also hopefully help to get your site indexed quicker.

Links From High Page Rank Sites - The engines follow links from other sites to find new sites. If you have a link from a really important site or a site with a high page rank, you can be sure the engines will find your site much quicker, as they assume a link from an important site is well worth following, as it will be deemed to be important and have authority, simply because a site with a good ranking and authority is linking to it.

Press Releases - There are many paid and free press release sites on the internet and by getting your press release, including information about your site, contact details and of course that all important link back, you can let the engines know about the site and what it does and by having a link to your site, means they will follow this to help get your site indexed quicker.

Article Submissions - Pretty much the same as Press Releases, most paid and free article submission sites allow you to give some good advice, but in turn reward you with a link back to your site. If you then release a load of articles about your niche and relevant information, all of which have your name and link, the engines will then come along and not only know what your about, but see the link, follow it and also use it to help with your rankings, as you will begin to pick up authority.

Pay Per Click - All three of the engines, Yahoo, Google and Bing offer paid advertising. As anyone who has used or is using Pay Per Click will know, you have to give each engine your link to spend money on PPC. So, this is great way of getting your website known about to all of the big players, and in the meantime you will also be getting early traffic from paid advertising.

Hopefully, if you implement some of the above, even if they are only the ones you can realistically achieve, you should stand a much better chance of getting your site indexed and ranking in the engines quicker than if just waiting for it to happen by chance, which could take a long time.

Domain Names - Successful Investments (Part 2)

Obviously, you know what they are looking for based on the keyword they are typing: Cell Phones and cell phone information. And listen up bucko, those visitors will type in CellPhones.com day in and day out, whether you advertise the site or not, just so long as you pay the $10/year registration fee.

* If you have a crappy page, they still come.
* If you insult them with pop-ups and banners, they still come
* If you have poor navigation, they still come.
* If your prices are sky-high, they still come.
* If your selection is limited, they still come. ... all because of your domain! I'm not suggesting you do any of those things, I'm just sayin;)

I know it sounds amazing people would type in a keyword string and add a dot com, but they do. In fact, it's estimated that 50% of all Internet traffic is type-in, also known as direct navigation. And when you take out the obvious destinations people type-in like Yahoo, Google, and MSN, the number is still almost 20%. I didn't believe it myself, but worked with a search engine client a few years back and discovered two very interesting facts about online users that if you understand, will make you money:

1) 31% of all searches are done in the address bar.
2) 28% of all address lookups are done in the search bar. The fact is, we domainers make our bread and butter because nobody ever really learned how to use the Internet, it's all been through trial and error. That probably explained why "yahoo.com" was our number one searched term;)

So what's CellPhones.com worth anyway? About 125,000 hot responsive visitors a month! And what are they worth, pray tell? Well, if you park the page and get paid on click revenue, it might be worth $15,000 - $30,000 a month... just based on type-in traffic. If you were offsetting the cost of advertising for an affiliate promotion, a click for a term like "cell phones" might go for buck or so, so you'd come out ahead by over six figures per month.

And if you own a store that actually sells cell phones? Well lordy lord, you just hit the holy grail because CellPhones.com may be able to generate $2 - $3 million dollars per year in increased sales, especially because of the massive credibility the domain gives you. All of which make CellPhones.com a seven figure domain. The bottom line is that domains are more than simply a place to stick your site or a name you can resell for a profit. Investment-grade keyword domains are the very basis for an e commerce powerhouse that can pay you dividends and provide income until you sell the site.

Things to Consider Before Getting a Domain Name

Choose your audience

The first thing to do when picking a right domain is to pick your audience.Your audience can be classified based on your clients, customers, geographic locations and so on. TLDs or top level domains like .com .net .org are fine even if you don't have a global presence. But if your strictly targetting a particular country say the UK or Japan, then a .co.uk or co.jp might do the job.My advice would be to stick to a dot com as its already captured the minds of the people.

Make it Crisp and Easy to remember

Short domain names are often a big hit. This is because of the normal human tendency to forget long words. Restrict your domain name to one or two words maximum and let it be easy to remember.

Strong Keywords

Use a popular keyword in your industry if possible in the domain name

Offline Business

If the domain name is going to be used to promote your offline business then, choose a name very close to your business

Dont Deviate from your business

Just for the sake of the domain not change your business image. This means that dont mislead your audience by choosing a wrong domain name.

Numbers

There has always been a debate regarding the use of numbers in the domain name.Numbers like 0 and 1 are confused with characters like O and L.Avoid numbers in domains.

Avoid Hyphens

Hyphens are known to be popular SEO tactic. But still, getting people to remember the "-" is a impossible task. Stay away from hyphens.

Get a proper registrar for the domain.

Most often people complain of domain hijacking. You can avoid this by using reputed services like GoDaddy or ENOM for the registration.

Register for a long period
Its a good practise to register a domain name for atleast 5 years or 10 years although your business might not be centered around it.This helps your avoid bad experiences like some one lese using the domain you advertised.

Last but not the least

Think twice before getting a domain name.and stick to only one domain for a business.

SEO For Google

Google page rank is determined by a number of factors:

SEO keywords
SEO content
SEO domain name
Originality of content
Number of links from external sites

Original Content

Having original content on your site is a no-brainer. It is the "why" that escapes many SEO web content developers. We have all seen the ads promising "150000 Adsense and SEO optimized pages". If it were this easy, all of us would be multi-millionaires by now. The reality is, Googlebot applies a penalty for non-original content, no mater how SEO you might think the page is. Think about it - why does "Nike.com" come up number 1 when you type Nike into Google? You or I could probably write a better SEO page about Nike than Nike.com. In fact, Nike.com keyword density for "Nike" is 0%!!!

Links from External Sites

Google take into account the number of links you have from external sites. Each link is like a "vote" for your site. Before you go and sign up for a link exchange program, consider this, some links do not count, in fact, being a "link spammer" can kill your ranking, no matter how good your SEO.

There are ways to generate quality back links:

Create a blog on blogspot.com (a Google Site) and write about your web page - include properly formatted links
Join blogs on respected sites and comment on articles, putting your URL in your signature
Write "press releases" when you update your site and post them on the free press release sites around the web
Take out classified ads in respected on-line newspapers
Make small donations to charity sites that keep a "Thank You" page and include your web site with your name
These are just some tips to compliment your SEO work to get a good Google ranking.

SEO for keywords and content is relatively easy. Choose your keyword. Write content around that keyword. Use an SEO optimizer program to make sure you have done it right.

Long gone are the days of writing unrelated content, and then typing "Britney Spears" 100 times at the end of the article. Today's search engine spiders can spot the "Black Hat" SEO techniques a mile away, and your site can be banned for life.

Here are a few tips for SEO optimization:

Be focussed in your meta keywords - 1 to 3 SEO optimized keywords is enough
Put your keyword at the beginning of you page title tag.
Make sure you title tag is the first tag in the head section
Make sure your keyword appears in the alt tag for images and in link text, but no more than 3 times
Put your keyword in bold
Put your keyword in the H1 section of your page, and H2 if you can
Have a keyword weigh in your article between 3-6% (higher is "keyword spamming")
SEO for domain names
Going back to the Nike.com example from my "SEO for Google" article. Since the keyword weight is 0%, how does nike.com get to billing when you search for them? Easy, Google gives a rank weight to domain names.

Make sure your primary domain name reflects the main purpose of your site (domain SEO). This site, for example, is all about my desire to "retire with millions". The site is subdivided in to many SEO optimized sub-domains each with a URL that denotes the sections. For example, all my SEO articles are in a sub-directory called ../seo.

Many articles have been written about Search Engine Optimization (SEO) for Google. Google is the largest search engine (for now) and getting your SEO right for the Googlebot can make your site top ten site getting millions of hits a day. On the other hand, poor SEO and your site may never be ranked and your campaigns for Adsence will never net you any real money. Even worse, bad SEO might mean that your cutting edge product is un-findable by your customers.

Desperate For Money? Try Asking!

The economy stinks, you've lost your job, and you can't make your house payment. Maybe it's not quite so dire: you need a new pair of glasses or some dental work, and your insurance plan won't cover it. Or perhaps you're a college student and you want to finish up your degree without accumulating quite so large a mountain of debt. It could be these or one of a thousand other situations, but one thing is clear: you need more money than you can put your hands on right now, and you have no idea how to get it. Has it ever occurred to you to just ask?

We've all heard the old adage, "ask and you shall receive." What if it's true? What if we could get our needs met, our wishes fulfilled, merely by asking? Recent history has shown that some people can! Documented examples of "cyber-begging," as it's become known, can be traced as far back as 1998, but it first became widely known during the summer of 2002 when a twenty-something woman from Brooklyn, New York, started her own web site. She wanted to raise $20,000 to pay off her credit card debts, and she did it! Within 20 weeks, her website had received over two million hits and her debt was paid off.

Since then, there have been other notable examples of successful cyber-begging: a woman in 2003 who paid for her breast implants with donations she raised online; a family from Aberdeen, Maryland who in November 2008 raised almost $11,000 online and saved their house from foreclosure. So, how do they do it? And will it work for you?

There are two basic approaches to asking for money online: you can set up your own web site with your own domain name, or you can create a page on a site that is dedicated to providing space for people to do this. There are advantages and disadvantages to both methods.

Setting up your own dedicated web site may appear to be the best, most successful approach to asking for money online. You aren't competing with anyone else's hard-luck story (that may well be more compelling than yours). Furthermore, all the "famous" successful sites have revolved around one person/family and their specific need for money. On the other hand, publicizing and driving traffic to you own personal cyber-begging site is easier said than done. The Internet is no longer a world where "if you build it, they will come." So, unless you get an extremely lucky break and your situation gets picked up by the media or something else happens to send your story "viral," you could easily spend the time, money, and effort to set up your site with no return.

Alternatively, you can tell your story on a web site that's designed to allow people to set up their own page to describe their situation and ask for money. For someone who doesn't have much experience administering web sites, this may be the best way to go. There are usually features you can select (such as presenting your link in a different color, or in bold, or closer to the top of the list), that will make your page stand out a bit in the crowd. Also, if you can create a compelling, well-written story with an eye-catching title, you may also persuade more site visitors to donate to you, rather than to your fellow "beggars." Finally, this is a low-cost, low-commitment approach. Most sites allow you to advertise for a small monthly charge, and you can cancel your listing with no further obligation. You don't need to secure your own domain name, arrange for personal web hosting, or design your own site.

Finally, no matter which approach you try, make sure you take advantage of any opportunities you have to bring traffic to your site through free publicity. If you have a Facebook or Myspace page, add a link to your site there. Do you regularly visit or post on a message board for one of your hobbies or interests? Check the terms of service to see if you are allowed to add a link to your site in your signature. Many grocery stores, libraries, or other public places in your area may have bulletin boards - see if you would be allowed to post a short summary of your situation and include the URL of your site. You may even want to invest in business cards (you can sometimes order them online for free or for a small shipping charge) or flyers - take these with you when you visit your local mall, park or other place where people congregate and pass them out or place them on car windshields. Anything you can do to make more people aware of your site will boost your traffic and make you more likely to succeed.

So, is asking for money online an option for you? You may never know until you try!

Learn How To Earn With Domain Parking

Have you thought of using domain parking to make some money? This is something that many people are taking advantage of. There are several ways you can make money with the simple task of domain parking.

Some people park a domain and decide to use it to make money while they are working out how to build the site. This is a great way to earn while you plan the site out. Some people also park domains just for the purpose of making money with no further plans to develop the website.

How do you do domain parking?

First of all, you need to know what type of domain to park. If you can think of an up and coming idea and capitalize it by buying domain names this is a great idea. If you know, for instance, that something new is in the works and becoming popular and the .com name isn't yet taken, you can park it an earn from it. You might get approached by someone later who will pay big money for that domain or you might find that people happen upon it while looking for something else. By filling the landing page with relevant advertisements or affiliate marketing ads and banners, you can make a regular stream of income.

If you are waiting until later on to reserve that great domain name you've been thinking about, don't tarry too long otherwise it could be gone and someone else might either build upon it and use it to their advantage or merely park it and wait to charge you big money for it.

It takes a bit of time to get things ready to do things this way. If you don't want to take the time, effort and money to register the domain, sign up for affiliate programs, build a page, maintain and manage a page and fill it with advertisements, you can choose to share the profits by working with a company to do the management for you.

There are several companies that will do domain parking for you and pay you a percentage of the fees. Some offer cheap domain name registrations and other incentives to get you to join up.

Many domain parking options are available and if you cannot come up with a catch phrase, you can often come up with a similar name to another company that may get hits. There are some cheap domain names registrars out there with some great deals to offer you.

Notes Of Caution With Domain Parking

Beware though; some people that are less than ethical and will do things in the domain biz such as redirect people's homepage to their parked domain so that people are more likely to click. Be cautious of hidden fees and black hat tactics and be sure to read the fine print because there are some known scams out there that benefit the domain parking company much more than they benefit you. Some people call some domain parking practices domain squatting or cyber squatting and some companies have been known to press charges if they suspect that someone is cybersquatting on a brand name that it their intellectual property. ICANN (Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers) handles complaints of this nature and looks for motives of bad faith when investigating domain parking scams.
